Webinar: 16 Days of Activism – Online Campaigns and Managing Resistance

November 3 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free
In 2021, Respect Victoria and DV Vic/DVRCV are partnering to deliver and support local engagement in the 16 Days of Activism Grassroots initiative. Facilitated by the DV Vic/DVRCV Primary Prevention Unit, this two-part webinar series is for community organisations and councils that are planning to get involved in this year’s initiative.
Resistance is a normal response to social change. It can occur in any setting and by anyone, regardless of their gender. It often comes when those who benefit from existing inequalities feel that their power and privilege is challenged.
In our second webinar for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, we will dive into how you can run an engaging 16 Days campaign in the online environment and prepare you to respond to different forms of resistance.
It will feature two organisations that hosted successful online campaigns or events for the 16 Days of Activism in 2020. They will talk through some handy tips on how to create digital content that is engaging and starts positive conversations in the community.
This webinar will also feature a deep dive into encountering resistance in online spaces, and how practitioners can safely challenge this in the context of the 16 Days campaign. This session will also include an extended question and answer session, including follow-up from any questions that went unanswered from the previous week’s planning webinar.
