Unpacking Resistance – CANCELLED

May 19

If you’re doing gender equality or primary prevention work, it’s likely that you’ve come across backlash and resistance. This one-day workshop for practitioners will give you effective, evidence-based tools and strategies to respond to resistance.

All upcoming DVRCV face-to-face training and events have been cancelled until the end of June. This means that there will be no face-to-face training until the relevant public health measures have been lifted. If you are registered for training and have any questions or concerns, please contact our training team by email on training@dvrcv.org.au. DVRCV remains committed to providing workforce capability building and are working behind the scenes to develop new and creative ways of ensuring this.

This one day course aims to build participants’ knowledge and skills to plan for and respond to backlash and resistance in their work to prevent violence against women.

What will I learn?

  • Definitions and forms of resistance and backlash in PVAW
  • How to plan for and respond to resistance, at both the individual and organisational level
  • How to minimise the impacts of resistance and through wellbeing practise and individual techniques

Who is this training for?

Experienced practitioners working in the primary prevention of violence against women.

Please note: Participants are required to have a strong understanding of violence against women, the drivers of violence against women, and primary prevention. This content will not be covered in this training.

What past participants say

“I’ve been able to broaden my perspective on the origins of resistance and the value working within it and I’ve built confidence to respond in the moment.”

“I will be more aware of occasions where I will encounter resilience and am more confident I have learnt some good strategies to use to manage those situations.”

“More confident than I felt before…”

Course costs (per participant)

$365 (full-fee no GST)
$155 (Partners in Prevention members and SHS funded workers)
