As the level of government closest to the community, local councils have a unique and important role in the prevention of violence against women, and influence a wide range of settings.

Over the past decade, local government has been a strong leader in Victoria promoting gender equality and preventing violence against women.

During this webinar, alongside experts and practitioners from both metro and regional Victorian councils, we will unpack and explore:

  • Why local government is critical in driving the change needed to prevent violence against women
  • The role of local government in preventing violence against women and how this has changed over the last decade
  • Tips for keeping prevention of violence against women and gender equity work on the agenda in the current context.
